Planting Seeds for the Future

The farm was recently profiled in emPower Magazine. Executive Director Pertula George shares the importance of hands-on experience on the farm for all age groups and opportunities for everyone to learn how to grow their own food and make healthy food choices in accomplishing the ultimate goal of "serving as a replicable model of a community-based urban food system." These broad changes start at home, and education-driven community building is fundamental to the mission of Common Good.

Anita Adalja, our Urban Grower, was featured in Express, where she shared her own focus on community engagement by showing others how to grow food, and teaches workshops in DC about pest control, composting, and other practical skills. Innovative initiatives such as Green Tomorrows and LEAF have put Common Good at the forefront of food justice work here in Washington, DC, inspiring staff, volunteers and community members alike.
