Tomatoes, Tinctures, Cooking & Cocktails: Join us on the farm this July!

Dear Friends,

Summer is coming along in full force. We harvested all of our garlic and it is now hanging to cure under our shade structure. We recently put up the trellis for our red noodle beans and were very excited to find jute trellis, which is biodegradable so it can add to our soil nutrients at the end of the season. We planted our sweet potato slips in mid-June and our ginger and turmeric plants have sprouted leaves.

In case you missed it, check out our Instagram post with some resources for celebrating and remembering Juneteenth.

We started our CSA in June and we love hearing from customers about the dishes they prepare with their produce! Are you still interested in joining our CSA? Email us to sign up for a pro-rated plan.

We harvested the first of our tomatoes and we are excited to highlight them in our upcoming Tomato Party on Thursday, July 15. We have several different varieties of cherry tomatoes growing: Black, Peacevine, Sunsugar as well as a few types of heirloom tomatoes. We hope you can join us to sample different tomato varieties and dishes highlighting tomatoes as well as bringing your kid to make tomato crafts.

We have four new and exciting workshops coming up soon so be sure to check these out and join us on the farm! There's something for everyone with a cooking demo with Chef Domonique, a farm fresh cocktail demo, a herbal tincture making workshop, and a shibori dyeing with plants workshop (family friendly).

If you are looking for a fun gift to give a family member or friend, be sure to check out our farm sponsorship opportunities! You can support the growth of a specific fruit tree or bed and receive a farm tote bag, sponsorship certificate, and brick marking your bed or tree.

With Gratitude,

Common Good City Farm

Youth Program Update

June has been a big month for our LEAF program. We had our first two classes on the farm and it was so fun to work together in person again! We learned about the people who feed us and all about insects in our garden ecosystem and were able to harvest farm ingredients for our recipes- on the left the class is harvesting kale for a smoothie!
We've also still been learning and cooking on Zoom, studying ecosystems and making yummy recipes including a design your own fruit parfait, kale salad, and black bean salsa.

We are excited to continue our on farm LEAF classes weekly on Sundays at 4:30. It's a drop in program, and a registration form needs to be completed on the first visit- masks are required along with other Covid safety measures.
Zoom LEAF class will also be continuing on Wednesdays at 4:30. If you are interested in getting further information about LEAF on the farm or virtual, please complete this interest form!
