More Veggies Means More Storage & An Exciting New Partnership

We have been amping up our produce production and have literally outgrown our current refrigerator and produce storage capacity. So when the Washington Architectural Foundation approached us to partner on a construction project through their Design in Action (DIA) program, we jumped at the opportunity. The Washington Architectural Foundation’s Design in Action program pairs professional architects with Washington DC high school students, Catholic University professors and college students in a design-build class. The high school students get exposure to the field, experience working with a client (that’s us!), and the opportunity to design and build a real life project to benefit a community organization. We are honored and excited to be a part of this program that will result in meaningful infrastructure that will increase our capacity to grow and distributed healthy, affordable produce to our community. The produce storage system will be the first of its kind on an urban farm in Washington, DC, allowing us to leverage the partnership with DIA to model the replicable infrastructure for our colleagues. We are currently in the design-phase of the project, with construction planned for late-June. Stay tuned!
