Faces of the Farm ~ Meet Josephine!
Josephine is one of the newer faces on the farm, and we are so happy to have her join our team as Program and Outreach Coordinator! Josephine is organizing our Seed-To-Table Workshops, cultivating and expanding our Small Enterprise partnerships, and running our weekly Farm Stand. “I’m really excited about increasing general awareness about the work Common Good City Farm does, and helping the farm serve as a model of urban agriculture in DC,” Josephine says about her future at the Farm. In her short time with the farm, Josephine (who began this June) has already engaged with many local residents to promote and evaluate our programs so that we can serve our community as effectively as possible. Josephine, who also creates and sells healthy food for her company Zenful Bites, has already added taste tests and cooking demos to our Farm Stand—encouraging patrons to try our veggies in ways they may not have considered before, such as in Mustard Green Pesto or a Zucchini Bruschetta. She has also lent her culinary talents to our Summer Youth Program by teaching introductory workshops on cooking and nutrition and will be featured as our guest chef at today’s Community Lunch. Welcome to the team Josephine! -- One of the most compelling elements of Common Good is the sense of community that is being fostered on the farm. At any given time one can see faces, young and old, from different backgrounds, gathered on the farm to lend a hand, attend a workshop, and engage in a lively conversation. We want to share some of these faces with you. Each week we will take a moment to learn a little bit more about our community members. We hope you will visit us and become one of our Faces of the Farm. Every Friday we will feature a new "face of the farm."
