Common Good Partners with DCHA to Build Raised Beds
This weekend Common Good City Farm staff and volunteers traveled across the river to the Highland Dwellings in Ward 8 to build raised beds for the residents of the public housing complex. This project, funded by the District of Columbia Housing Authority (DCHA), will bring residents of the Highland Dwellings together to grow fresh, healthy food for their community. Common Good, with the help of volunteers, residents, and DCHA staff, transformed a forgotten strip of land into a garden area that will not only produce nutritious food, but can also become a social gathering place. DCHA already has plans to bring the community's youth art club over to paint a mural on the garden's storage container. We are happy to be expanding access to healthy food throughout the District.
