May and June events on the Farm
Dear Friends,
While this spring has been a bit chilly and meant we had to delay planting our summer crops a bit, we are hopeful that warmer weather is on its way!
We are excited to be announcing a number of workshops and events on the farm as well as welcoming our two newest staff members: Jaime and Val!
Our Farm Market is in full swing! Join us every Wednesday from 3:30 - 6:30 pm to pick up produce, value-added items, and more! Join us for another Farm + Fit on Saturday May 7 from 10 am - 1 pm. There is still time to sign up for our CSAbefore we start in June.
Celebrate spring with us at our Salad Slam on Friday, May 13 from 6-8 pm, a free community event showcasing our salad greens and save the date for our next free community event on Friday, June 3 from 6-8 pm.
Be sure to check out the menu and buy tickets for our second A Night on the Farm of the season on Thursday, June 9featuring Chef Andres Zuluaga of Blend 111.
We have lots of exciting workshops coming up:
We’re excited to announce that Jack Johnson’s foundation All at Once is matching donations contributed to us from now until October 15, up to a total of $2500. Make a donation at the link below & it will be doubled by the Johnson Ohana Foundation!
Meet Our New Staff
Jaime is our new Farm and Market Assistant. As a budding farmer, herbalist and bee keeper in training, her interest in agriculture was ignited during the height of the 2020 pandemic. Jaime enjoys cooking, holistic medicine, and teaching young people all about the beauty of this earth.
Val is our new Farm Assistant and was called to return to the land just 6 years ago when they found a deep connection to herbal medicine, just before focusing on agriculture as an “ehakihet” or farmer. While farming has been a part of both sides of their family, they’ve felt drawn to the land to do their own work in agriculture, combining today’s methods of farming with methods their Piscataway ancestors and living elders practiced. Val feels a deep calling to work with Mama Earth to reclaim and remember a relationship with the land, water, and plant and animal relatives.
Shop at Our Farm Market
Our weekly Farm Markets have started and will run every Wednesday from 3:30 to 6:30 pm until Wednesday, October 26.
