Apply for our City Farmer Certificate Program!
This year Common Good City Farm is excited to be offering training and certification in Regenerative Urban Agriculture. Participants will gain the awareness and skills needed to successfully manage land for small-scale crop production using organic, regenerative and climate responsive techniques. Topics covered will include how to plan crops and keep records, propagation and planting techniques, irrigation types and installation, how to manage pests in an integrated system, best harvest practices, composting and more. Participants will have the opportunity to earn three certificates over the course of 7 months. Certificates are part of a series whereby successful completion of each 10 weeks is required to move on to the following.

The course will meet every Sunday from 2-5 pm between April 5 and October 25. See the exact schedule here.
Successful completion of the first 10 weeks will earn participants an “Introduction to Regenerative Urban Agriculture” certificate as well as a basic understanding of what it takes to manage a small-scale vegetable farm.
The second 10 weeks will allow participants to continue cultivating the awareness and skills acquired in the first 10 weeks while choosing a focus area to earn a certificate of specialization in. Focus areas include propagation, irrigation and compost management.
Participants who choose to continue for the third and final 10 week segment will have the opportunity to master the techniques they have been practicing all season while focusing on practices that help mitigate climate change. Successful completion of this segment will earn participants a certificate in “Soil Carbon Sequestration in Regenerative Urban Agriculture”.
Sessions will be a combination of teachings under our pavilion and practical application in the field. This program is intended for those committed to attending or making up all course material and interested in learning both the theory and application of regenerative agriculture techniques.
For those unable to make the commitment or looking for a less structured experience, our traditional City Farmer volunteer program will be returning and will also begin Sunday, April 5. Sessions will meet Sundays from 9am- 12pm, Tuesdays from 5-8 pm and Wednesdays from 9-12 am. Look out for registration for this coming soon. And new this year, beginning in May, we will have monthly community work days. Dates for these will also be announced soon!
