Faces of the Farm

Meet Oliver:

Oliver is a weekly volunteer at Common Good City Farm. He travels from Takoma Park, Maryland to help us out! Oliver says his favorite thing to do is harvest the produce from the farm because it is easier than weeding and he likes the results. In the picture, Oliver is helping to fertilize the tomatoes!

Recipe of the Week: Cheesy Potato Squash Casserole

Over the summer we will post recipes featuring fresh ingredients that we are growing on Common Good City Farm. Check back weekly to see what we are harvesting!

Recently at the farm we have been harvesting our potatoes! Potatoes are a lot of fun to harvest and can be even more fun to cook with. Check out this recipe that combines potatoes with summer squash and onion to make a delicious, filling casserole with lots of fresh ingredients!

Registration Now Open for Fall Field Trips

Field trips to Common Good will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays in September and October. If you're interested in bringing your class for a farm visit, you can read more about our trips and reserve a spot by visiting our Field Trips Page. We cover material that meets DCPS standards, and we recently received a DC Farm to School stamp of approval from our friends at DC Greens.

Faces of the Farm

One of the most compelling elements of Common Good is the sense of community that is being fostered on the farm. At any given time one can see faces, young and old, from different backgrounds, gathered on the farm to lend a hand, attend a workshop, and engage in a lively conversation. We want to share some of these faces with you. Each week we will take a moment to learn a little bit more about our community members. We hope you will visit us and become one of our Faces of the Farm.

Two things that are definitely not in short supply on the farm this time of year are tomatoes and basil. Luckily, they make a winning combination.
