Volunteer

Be a Farm Volunteer!

Come be a part of your community and get out in nature, right in the city! Common Good is conveniently located near the metro stops of Shaw on the green line and New York Ave on the red line. See how to get here.

Come join us as an individual volunteer on the farm at any time during our open farm hours.

Farm work varies almost as much as the weather and as a Farm Volunteer, you may be asked to do anything from planting seeds and weeding to painting or building. There are also opportunities to help out in the office or in the community! Email info@commongoodcityfarm.org if you have skills and passion in youth development, grant writing, databases, or IT! It takes a lot of dedication behind the scenes to keep a farm running.

Volunteer Groups

In addition to our dedicated day-to-day volunteers, we host volunteer groups on the farm during the growing season. Groups we host include, but are not limited to: colleges and universities, not-for-profit organizations, churches, and businesses.

Participants engage in farm tasks (planting, harvesting, weeding, composting etc.) and learn about sustainable agriculture and our food system through educational games and discussions. This is a great team-building and bonding experience for groups and a meaningful way to contribute towards urban agriculture and healthy food access in our neighborhood.

We host groups of up to 15 people and ask for a donation of $10 per person to help sustain our programs. Please contact us if you cannot afford to make a donation. We ask larger companies to make a tax-deductible contribution of $500 or more to help support our work and community.

Throughout the growing season (April - October), we host volunteer groups on Saturdays from 9:30am to 12:30pm. Schedule your farm visit here.

See you on the farm!
